Lithgow, New South Wales
It is reaching a hillside terrace
and looking back at a landscape
part shadowed, part bright,
and in places treacherous.
It is carrying luggage
of little rituals
making a pattern
defined by crepe and crease of skin.
It is stepping into the someday
to find that how it was going to be
it may never be.
Nevertheless it is affirming
that here in my future
I am making my past.
