I Need Your Lovely Smile

Maxima

Germany

I need your lovely smile
The warmth of your hands
The breadth of your soul
And the secluded cave
Hidden deep in your heart
Without them
A harsh word would kill me
A song playing on the radio
Would take me
Into the cold starry night …
I need a myriad of gentle words
To bring me happiness,
Joy and peace
Here I am, my darling
Sitting by the fire
In the dimly lit room
With a bottle of wine
In my hand
Dreaming of you
The DJ playing
A song for us
I love you

Bio: Primarily a poet, Maxima also writes short stories, aphorisms and literary criticisms. He has edited and reviewed several books.

I love this beautifully evocative poetry, Maxima is one of my favorite writers and poets, and this is one of his very finest pieces. I adore his beautiful poems and books and am astonished at his gift of expression which seems endless. Thank you Maxima, and congratulations on this very lovely poem and all of your accomplishments.

This is a beautifully written poem. It is evocative and well paced. I like that it says so much using few words.

I’m sure that in real life, you are a true ladies man Maxima. You manage to recapture some of the romanticism of bygone era’s. Thank you for helping to keep it alive and bringing it into this time now, but please do try to leave a few ladies for us poor ‘Try Hard’s.’ Just kidding with that last bit! I enjoy your work.

Thank you for your kind words. You give me more credit than I deserve, though. My heart belongs to one woman only. And if you find my poems to be a way to a lady’s heart, you can always use them. Good luck.
