A Parting Glass

JH Mancy

Tallebudgera, Queensland

Australia

Farewell to you narrator, know you have served us well
Through dismal days and gloomy, or sunshine days so swell
The many ups and downs of life; in our hearts youโ€™ll dwell

Your support appreciated in cities and towns;
far flung lands across seas, but especially our own
Usually offspring fly the comfort of the nest for
adventures new; this time with regret, we find itโ€™s you!
The hard workers at narrator caused us smile each day
Kudos are awarded to you, we say hip hooray!
We wish for you everything that we could wish for youโ€”
Wherever you may wander our thoughts go with you too

Bio: This piece was written as an expression of appreciation for narratorINTERNATIONAL and to all who sailed in her. Thank you Jenny, Ally and Sarah, you will be missed.
Never give up on dreams!

Well said Janet. We all feel sad today, but, yes, the appreciation for what we have enjoyed over these years must be expressed and you have done it so well. Farewell narrator, “and all who sailed in her.”

    Off and On
    Life flickers
    In off and on
    Words land
    in off and on.
    Three years of rough trade
    have made me
    off and on
    a writer
    with narrator.

Thank you all for your lovely words and your ‘final, final’ contributions here!

We are indeed sad to close the book, but have had a wonderful time over the last few years working with you all and we wish you all the best in your new writing adventures.

Be free, narrator birds! Fly that nest and sprinkle your work wherever you can – we will be keeping an eye out for it.

    Cheers

    Jenny, Sarah and Ally

Will do Demelza, and thank you. The title is for an old song which is a particular favourite of mine, called The Parting Glass. Look for it on Youtube. Sorry you won’t be at the get together, but look forward to meeting you in 2017 ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you JH for your lovely poem! And for the poems in the comments, too. We’re all feeling quite gloomy about the close of Narrator but we’re looking forward to the party more and more. Can’t wait to meet some of you and reunite with others. Thank you all for your support!
